A free, community-powered app for Bangladesh Railway passengers — see where every train really is, in real time.
TrainKothai(ট্রেন কোথাই — “where is the train?”) is a free app and website for Bangladesh Railway passengers. It combines the official BR timetable with crowdsourced GPS from riders on board, so you can see where any train actually is — its live position, delay, and next station — not just where it's scheduled to be.
Because Bangladesh Railway has no official live tracker, TrainKothai fills the gap. It's completely free, needs no account, and you can opt out of location sharing at any time.
TrainKothai — BD Train Tracker
Android & iPhone · Free · No account needed
The official app adds live GPS tracking, offline timetables, and push alerts — free on Google Play and the App Store. The web version you're using now is a companion to it.
Three sources, blended into one accurate picture of where every train is right now.
Crowdsourced live GPS
When riders on board have the app open, their anonymised GPS updates the train's live position on the map for everyone.
Official schedule
When no rider is on board, we estimate the train's position from the official Bangladesh Railway timetable — so every train always shows a sensible status.
Official SMS data
We also pull positions from Bangladesh Railway's official SMS service and add them to the site — so you get that info free, without paying to text it yourself.
Live Train Tracking
See every Bangladesh Railway train moving on the map in real time — powered by crowdsourced GPS from fellow passengers.
Route Search
Find trains between any two stations. Filter by class, departure time, and availability.
Station Board
Live arrivals and departures for every BR station — platform numbers, expected times, and delay info.
Journey Alarms
Set smart alerts for departures, arrivals, and delays. Never miss your train again.
Community Powered
Train positions are updated by passengers on board. The more riders who use TrainKothai, the more accurate everyone's data gets.
Private by Design
No account required. Location data is anonymised and never linked to your identity. You can opt out of tracking at any time.
Got questions?
How TrainKothai tracks Bangladesh Railway trains — and how to use it.
TrainKothai blends three sources. First, crowdsourced GPS: when riders on board have the app open, their anonymised position updates the train’s live location for everyone. Second, the official Bangladesh Railway schedule fills the gaps when no rider is on board. Third, we pull positions from BR’s official SMS service and add them to the site — so you get that data free, without paying to text it yourself.
No. TrainKothai is an independent, community-powered app. Bangladesh Railway has no official live train tracker, so we built one — combining the official BR timetable with crowdsourced GPS from passengers to show where trains actually are in real time.
Both work. You can track trains right now at trainkothai.com — just open it in any browser and enter your train number or name. For live GPS tracking, offline timetables, and push alerts, install the free TrainKothai app — from Google Play on Android, or the App Store on iPhone. Either way it’s free and needs no account.
Accuracy depends on how many passengers are sharing GPS on that train — the more riders using TrainKothai, the closer the live position is to the train’s real location. When no one on board is sharing, we estimate progress from the official Bangladesh Railway schedule and SMS data, and show clearly that it’s not a live GPS fix.
